Rain Rain Go Away!

I get a couple emails each day with "quotes of the day", so I thought I might take some time here to reflect on them. It's something that I've always wanted to do, but didn't know where to do it. So, here goes:

"The future belongs to those who prepare for it today" -Malcom X

This one just makes my brain hurt. I know that I should be doing something other than sitting here typing this. Like making some phone calls, or doing laundry, but here I sit... typing.

"If you can organize your kitchen, you can organize your life." -Louis Parrish

Then there's this one... I agree with this one 200%... and if you saw my kitchen right now, you'd know exactly why! It made me delve into my Peter Walsh emails from Oprah's de-clutter series. Now, where should I start again? The pile of magazines that I want to read, but haven't gotten to yet... the clothes that came via UPS that I unwrapped and are somewhat folded on the kitchen counter... the other pile of magazines that I haven't read yet.

I would also counter that when you 'work-at-home' and you have an office or office space, that if you organize your office you can organize your life. I know that when my office is messy, it spills out on to the kitchen table, then has to get moved for dinner, and onto the kitchen island it goes.

It's a horrible and never ending cycle. Well, hopefully that cycle will come to an end shortly. Tomorrow Dave is supposed to be taking the day off work to stay home and work with my dad on the infamous scrap booking cabinet that has been in the works for the last 4 years (pretty much since we moved here). And has become a great dust and tool catch out in the garage, serving no purpose.

But I guess that means that I should really start in the office, and clearing some floor space for said cabinet... which means that I should really sign off, and turn OFF the computer (not just send it into sleep mode!)

Until tomorrow!

Getting started.

I decided I wanted to start a blog. Why not... doesn't everyone now? Between Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, blah blah blah! I've been blogging occasionally on various sites, I guess as a way to 'scrapbook' various events in my life... my weight loss journey on SparkPeople.com. Various events and trips on MySpace, things that happen with my kids on what ever page seems appropriate at the time. But why not spend some time on myself - and put all this stuff in one place.

I need to do that anyway, as a quest - along with my healthy weight journey, in order to build my business as a Tastefully Simple consultant. Maybe this will help me realize what's holding me back from being successful on my own... or at least give me a recorded 'history' as things go along.

I've titled this "Me Finding Myself - journey of 1000 smiles" because I want to remind myself to smile. Even when things suck or the kids are being royal pains - smile. Life is too short to get upset over the small stuff, and there's almost always another option when things aren't going your way.

I'm going to do my best to write something every day... you might be interested, you might not... but I'm doing this for me. And if it helps someone else out who finds my blog along the way... GREAT!

So, here's to it!
